Industrial Designer
Welcome to Amsler Knives and Tools: Currently in five years of business. After moving my workshop four times, it has grown better with each new location. Now proudly made in Damascus Township, Pennsylvania.
I’d like to start by saying that I take great pride in what I do. Being the perfectionist that I am is both a blessing and a curse. I enjoy obsessing over a design and making sure I thoroughly analyze all the details - anywhere from usability, purpose, tactile feel, functionality, and integration of the sheath. This is a lengthly problem-solving process that takes place before going through with any design. I enjoy making things that I know can easily be used for ever-day-carry and will fit well in the pocket. The materials I’ve chosen to use are a mix of high-end steels and titanium because quality is important to me. Throughout the years, my work has often been described as having a futuristic feel. But the bottom line is, it is a reflection of the thought, time, and quality put into it.
It’s important to know that it’s always a goal of mine to keep costs down and make things more affordable for the customer. Do keep in mind that each design made in small batches and made with care. I tend to focus on a limited amount of designs at one time to see them through to their highest potential. Once creativity strikes, I will then begin the next projects in line. The previous design will either be revisited at a later date, or become retired all together. This allows for evolvement into new ideas, as I am always looking to improve and perfect.
On a personal level, I have always been a collector; well versed in high-end custom folders and the range of makers in the tactical knife industry. I know what is out there and available. That is why I have always strived to offer tools that fit a certain niche. Items that are unique and not available elsewhere. The challenge of figuring out how to produce a product I can stand behind and see it through to completion and is very rewarding. I’m lucky to have great customers that have followed my work through the years - from forum to forum, and through all forms of social media. I’ve been a member of many forums for over 10 years now - some include: Usual Suspect Forum, Knife Forum, Blade Forum, and Candle Power Forum .
Most of my practice has been self-taught, and I have been fortunate to learn from the help of many great makers along the way. I’m honored to be represented through collaborations with Boker Knives of Germany (Boker Plus Slik) and Triple Aught Design of California. (Hurricane Razor, AMP)
I’m always open to new ideas and feedback. You can keep up to date and follow my products through many forums and social media. All available resources are listed on this site, so keep in touch. I hope you enjoy.
